Looking Ahead For 2018
As we all return to work after what has hopefully been an enjoyable festive season with our friends and families our minds turn to what the year ahead will hold and how we can build on the successes of 2017. Graeme McAusland, CEO of the Funeral Planning authority shares some thoughts:
“2017 was a year of significant change for the Funeral Planning Authority and I am proud of what we have achieved. Changing our structure to become a Community Interest Company and in doing so embedding our independence from the industry was a key step. I believe it has already enabled us to act with a greater focus on the needs of consumers and we will continue in this vein during 2018.
A key issue for us is to raise awareness of what purchasing a funeral plan from a registered provider means and the additional protection it offers to consumers. Our communications programme will aim to explain the importance of registration. This will make it essential that for a provider to win the confidence of consumers that they will need to be FPA registered and meet the requirements of our rules.
2017 has seen us welcome new registered providers and work with existing providers to continue to raise standards within the industry. We are very proud of our robust regulation, but we are not standing still and in 2018 we will continue to seek improvement across all areas of our operation.”
